Clipper ships are widely considered the fastest and most beautiful commercial sailing vessels ever built. Many of these ships were built right here in Maine. The era of the clipper ships was incredibly short, but these vessels were integral to key trade routes in the mid-1800s. Maritime historian Seth Goldstein will share stories of sadistic captains and horrific storms, among other topics related to these “greyhounds of the sea.”
