Lateral File #1

Lateral File #1

The Scarborough Historical Society and Museum have many resources of great use to genealogy and family history enthusiasts. Among those resources is the Lateral File #1. The cabinet consists of four drawers. The first drawer consists of a hodgepodge of materials regarding Scarborough, notebooks, newspaper clippings, several editions of “The Maine Townsman” and family genealogies. The second drawer includes many copies of family history (trees) binders as well as several issues of the New Hampshire Genealogical Record and stories. The bottom two drawers consist of Scarborough High School Yearbooks beginning with 1912 and contains most years through 2011. Not only can a yearbook provide a photo of your ancestor, but it may also include the interests and activities your ancestor was involved with. Those activities can provide depth to your understanding of the individual. Additionally, the yearbooks may advertise businesses that you remember but are now long gone.

Note: We do not have the following Four Corners Yearbooks:
1980, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1993, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2007, & 2012.
If you have a copy of any of those yearbooks that you would like to donate to the Museum, we will be very grateful.
